TRAVEL COSTS IN PANAMA CITY *$25 is the regular taxi charge to downtown Panama City from Tocumen International airport, 20 km. (13 miles) west of the airport. *$30 is the airport transfer fee. The U.S. dollar (known as the Balboa here) is the currency in Panama. *$5 taxi ride will carry you and your bags from your hotel to either the Albrook bus terminal, or Marcos Gelebert national airport.
